In-between What is Working and What Could Flourish:
SFBT Meets Positive Psychology as a Pathway to Eudaimoniaeets
by Eugenia Savvidou, Greece
In a world shaped by uncertainty, rapid change, emotional fatigue, and a growing need for meaningful direction, therapists are increasingly called to work "in between" — between science and humanity, challenges and possibilities, hardship and well-being.
Drawing from my clinical work as a psychotherapist in Greece, I will share how I integrate SFBT and Positive Psychology into a unified therapeutic practice — one that maintains simplicity, clear direction, and respects the client’s own expertise.
This workshop explores what shifts, when we ask not only “What’s working?” but also “What helps people flourish?” — moving the focus from survival to meaningful growth and eudaimonia.
We will examine how familiar SFBT tools — exception, miracle, coping, relationship, scaling, and best hopes questions — can support and cultivate key concepts from Positive Psychology that enhance well-being. These include savoring, hope, gratitude, psychological resilience, character strengths, positive relationships, life purpose, self-care, and self-compassion.
The aim is to activate — offering participants practical tools and exercises to incorporate into their practice.
Participants will be invited to experience these firsthand, reflect deeply, and connect with their own strengths and subtle shifts. In times marked by global uncertainty, disconnection, and the quiet erosion of hope, therapeutic approaches that invite agency, meaning, and joy are not just helpful — they are essential.
Amidst the collective fatigue of our times — where crisis, complexity, and contradiction often cloud the human spirit — we return to the simple yet profound question: What gives life meaning now? In this closing part of the workshop, we reclaim hope not as a luxury but as an existential necessity. The convergence of SF work and Positive Psychology becomes more than a method — it is an act of quiet resistance, a way to keep the light on for ourselves and those we support, even in uncertain times.
