Emma has been a registered psychologist since 1996, working in mental health, education, critical incident response, and suicide postvention. Since 2010, she has worked for New Zealand Police, initially focusing on youth offenders and later transitioning to family harm intervention. As Psychology Advisor for the Eastern District, Emma developed the "Conversations in Custody" program, published in Police Science Journal (2021). Currently serving as Senior Advisor Organisational Development, she leads the National Coaching Framework and delivers suicide prevention training. Emma is also the Founder of Connecting with Hope and co-director of The Possibilities Lab. Outside work, Emma is a competitive swimmer and proud mother of four.

In an ideal world there is cooperation between a country's police force and the citizens. However this is not always the case. This workshop will tell the story of how better interactions can build trust, improve relationships, increase procedural justice, and create better futures.
