Haesun Moon, Canada:
Interfluence: The (in)visible Work of Moving Conversations
What actually moves in a meaningful conversation—and how do we know?
This workshop invites participants into the interfluential space of coaching: the dynamic, often invisible, middle where change begins to take shape. Rooted in conversation science and informed by the Dialogic Orientation Quadrant (DOQ), Interfluence is a framework that captures what happens in between people—between words, turns, stories, and intentions.
In the spirit of this year’s theme, we’ll explore how coaches can tune into the subtle signals of movement, meaning-making, and progress that aren’t always visible, but always present. Rather than viewing coaching as a series of techniques, this session treats conversation as a living system—a place where what we say, how we listen, and when we respond shape the trajectory of change.
Through real examples, video clips, short activities, and group reflection, participants will learn to:
Identify micro-movements of meaning in live dialogue
Practice using DOQ as a lens for locating and supporting progress
Reflect on their own conversational impact—not just what was said, but what moved.
This is not a passive session. Participants will be invited to see and hear what shifts in the in-between moments of conversation—and leave with practical tools and deeper awareness of the invisible work they already do.
